Sponge Cake Draft

Two layers of simple butter sponge with strawberry jam in the middle and powdered sugar on top, a quick cake I bake in two pans.

How I make it

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease two 8-inch (20 cm) round pans.

  2. Beat the butter and sugar until pale. Gradually add the eggs, beating well.

  3. Add the flour and baking powder and mix until smooth.

  4. Divide the batter between the two pans and bake for 20 minutes.

  5. Spread one cake with the jam and set the other cake on top.

  6. Dust the top with powdered sugar.
