Creamy Onion Tart Draft

A simple onion tart in a flaky butter crust, with an egg and cream custard and a touch of nutmeg and paprika.

How I make it

Crust

  1. Mix the crust ingredients into a smooth dough.

  2. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 30 minutes.

Filling and baking

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. Roll out the dough and fit it into a pie pan.

  3. Slice the onions thinly and spread them over the crust.

  4. Whisk the eggs, cream and seasonings and pour over the onions.

  5. Dot the top with small pieces of butter.

  6. Bake for 35 minutes.

  7. Sprinkle with the chopped chives.
