Rolled Halva Cookies Draft

Pinwheel cookies from a butter and sour cream dough, rolled up with halva and nuts and sliced before baking, with sesame on top.

How I make it

  1. Put all the dough ingredients in a stand mixer and mix into a smooth dough with no lumps.

  2. Shape into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

  3. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  4. Flour the counter and divide the dough into 4 parts. Roll each into an 8 x 12-inch (20 x 30 cm) sheet, about ⅛ inch (3-4 mm) thick.

  5. Spread a quarter of the halva over each sheet and sprinkle a quarter of the nuts on top.

  6. Roll each sheet into a tight log and move it to the baking sheet.

  7. Cut each log into ⅝-inch (1.5 cm) slices.

  8. Beat the egg with the water, brush the tops of the cookies and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

  9. Bake for 30 minutes, until golden.
