Chicken Meatballs in Tomato Sauce with Ptitim Draft

Tiny chicken meatballs with basil in a smooth tomato sauce, served over ptitim (Israeli couscous), a dinner I make together with the kids.

How I make it

Sauce

  1. In a wide pot, sweat about half the onion and garlic in a little olive oil until translucent.

  2. Add the tomatoes, season with salt and pepper and cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes.

  3. Transfer the sauce to a blender, blend until smooth and return it to the pot.

Meatballs

  1. Mix the ground chicken with the rest of the onion and garlic, add the basil and egg, and season with salt and pepper.

  2. Shape into tiny balls and drop them into the hot sauce.

  3. Cook for another 15 minutes.

  4. Serve over ptitim cooked according to the package directions.
